Okay, so I just finished
The Kite Runner and even though the story ended on a happy level, I'm still really sad. Poor Hassan. I really liked him, and I can't help but feel so sorry for the dear man. I mean, his life was crap, his father somewhat abandoned him, he was always being bullied, he was a poor servant boy, and his only friend watched him get raped and then ran off to America! When he got older, he bears a child with his wife, but then gets shot out in the street by the Taliban, along with his wife. It's such a sad story to me. I cried.... or came really close to it.
What a good book. Khaled Hosseini really knows how to dig deep into emotions.
